General Info:

Bittersweets New York jewelry classes are taught in the basement of the brooklyn boutique. The cost of the class includes instruction and use of the studio tools during class time. Materials and casting fees are additional. Note: We pushed back the letter ring class one week. The correct date for the first letter ring class is Tuesday, August 12. If you have an old flyer, please take note of the change.

Making Bittersweets New York's Letter Rings!!!

Instructor: R. Adams

2 consecutive Tuesdays. $250+ tax
August 12, 6-9pm /August 19, 6-9pm. 6 hours total.

Maybe you've seen these customized rings at Catbird, or even have one of your own! Now you can make your very own personalized rings! This class will be limited to 4 people and will teach very basic soldering, hammering and stamping techniques. But don't be fooled by their simplicity, they are challenging! You will also learn how to polish your rings to a mirror or matte finish which is a must-have skill for any aspiring jeweler.

The first Tuesday will be spent practicing on silver. The second class will be spent working with 14K gold, which is optional, but highly recommended. All metal and materials needed can be purchased on 46th & 47th street and a materials list will be sent out once registration is confirmed.

Bittersweets Wax/Metal Class

4 consecutive Saturdays. $250+ tax
August 9, 3-6pm /August 16, 3-6pmAugust 23, 3-6pm/August 30, 3-6pm 12 hours total.

Many of the Bittersweets designs were first made with a wax pattern; Medusa, The mano, Earthworm Bracelet, Heart & Dagger Necklace, etc... The first session of this class will be spent experimenting with different kinds of waxes and learning techniques to manipulate the wax into small designs. We will cast our waxes in the jewelry district and then work on our patterns in metal to achieve the desired results! If you really love your design, you have the opportunity to get a mold made so you can make as many of your piece as you want! There is no limit to what you can create for this class!

Note: Between the fist and second class, you will need to do quite a bit of "homework" with your wax designs. Please make sure your schedule allows for this, if you plan to take this class.

Bittersweets Letter Rings Part II !!!

August 26, 6-9pm /Sept 2, 6-9pm. 6 hours total.

This session is open to first timers, (read the above description) and anyone that wants to build on their skills acquired from the first session. For instance, you can experiment with larger gauges or order a customized stamp with your very own design on it!
